Agave Simple Syrup
Hey all you cool cats and kittens (UGH, I had to).
Here is a delicious and stupid-easy recipe for all your cocktail and iced coffee dreams!
I decided to put a (debatably) healthy twist on classic simple syrup by replacing sugar with agave and it's our absolute go-to for delicious cocktails like Margaritas, Palomas, Southsides and more! 🍸
While like sugar, agave is processed and high-fructose, it does have a low glycemic index, which makes me think that in these dire times maybe the nightly happy hours will have some trace of dignity after all. Also, the flavor is super nice and gives a subtle edge when compared to sugar (in my opinion).
Just like simple syrup, it's made by mixing equal parts sweetener and water and can be used to replace any recipe that calls for simple syrup. Cheers!
Makes 1 cup simple syrup.
1/2 cup agave nectar
1/2 cup hot water
Combine agave nectar and hot water and stir to dissolve. Let cool completely and store in the refrigerator for up to one month.
